HCS Announces New Leadership for the 2025-2026 Academic Year

Halifax County Schools is proud to welcome an exceptional team of school leaders for the 2025–2026 academic year. With a shared commitment to student achievement, these educators bring decades of experience and a renewed sense of purpose to their new roles.


Superintendent Dr. Eric Cunningham shared, “We are thrilled to have these dedicated leaders join their work in Halifax County Schools. Each brings a unique set of strengths, but they are united by a shared passion for excellence and student success.”


Dr. Tevis Harris

Principal, William R. Davie STEM Academy

Dr. Tevis Harris is a seasoned educator with over a decade of leadership experience spanning elementary, middle, and high school. With a proven track record of leading elementary, middle and high school programs, Dr. Harris brings more than a decade of experience in transforming school culture, improving academic outcomes, and nurturing the whole child. Dr. Harris brings not only educational expertise but also a heart for student empowerment. Passionate, purpose-driven, and deeply rooted in service, Dr. Harris is committed to helping students discover who they are, believe in what they can become, and thrive both in and out of the classroom.


Dr. Kenya K. Grant

Principal, Northwest Collegiate and Technical Academy

Dr. Kenya K. Grant is an accomplished educational leader with over 25 years of experience in public education. She holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and has served as a classroom teacher, district mentor, and school principal. Dr. Grant is deeply passionate about academic excellence, culturally responsive leadership, and creating equitable learning environments for all students. She is honored to join Halifax County Schools as principal and is committed to fostering a supportive, high-achieving school community where every student can succeed.


Ms. Leslie Norman

Assistant Principal, Northwest Collegiate and Technical Academy

A proud native of Greensboro, NC, Ms. Leslie Norman brings a wealth of knowledge, heart, and a strong foundation in education and leadership to her new role as Assistant Principal. She holds a Bachelor's degree in History from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, and a Master’s in School Administration from Gardner-Webb University. Ms. Norman is deeply committed to creating positive learning environments where both students and teachers can thrive. With her passion for equity, instructional excellence, and strong relationships, she is excited to be an asset to the district as a collaborative leader and advocate for student success.


Mr. Cyrus B. Waters, Sr.

Principal, Enfield Middle STEAM Academy

Mr. Cyrus B. Waters, Sr. brings over two decades of experience to his role as principal of Enfield Middle STEAM Academy. Having served as a CTE teacher, special populations coordinator, and administrator, Mr. Waters has a strong record of improving student outcomes. He is a graduate of Shaw University and holds advanced degrees from Gardner-Webb University and Andersonville Theological Seminary. 


Mr. Lynell Perry

Principal, Scotland Neck Elementary Leadership Academy

Mr. Perry served in the capacity of an Educator for the past 22 years, empowering youth at all grade levels. He is student-centered and committed to preparing young students for success in an ever-changing world of learning. Mr. Perry holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a second B.A. in Sociology, both from North Carolina Central University. He earned a Master’s in Executive Leadership Studies from Gardner-Webb University. Additionally, he holds an Associate and a Bachelor of Theology from Eastern Carolina School of Theology. Mr. Perry loves advocating for others, helping in the community, spending time with his family, his fraternity brothers, and close friends. He is honored to be able to serve as the next principal of Scotland Neck Elementary Leadership Academy. 


Ms. Eboni Branch

Principal, Pittman Elementary Leadership Academy

Ms. Eboni Branch, currently serving as Assistant Principal at Northwest Collegiate and Technical Academy, will transition into the role of Principal at Pittman Elementary Leadership Academy. With a passion for building strong relationships, supporting teacher growth, and promoting a positive school culture, Ms. Branch brings a student-first mindset and a collaborative leadership style to her new position. She  is committed to ensuring that every child at Pittman Elementary thrives in a safe, engaging, and academically rigorous environment.
