A WORD FROM THE DIRECTOR GENERAL

Dear Parents / Legal Guardians,

Over the years, many of you have reminded us of just how much our program has transformed your child’s life—and yours as well. We always take great pleasure in reading your messages, as each expression of gratitude is deeply meaningful to us. You remind us of the purpose, scope, and importance of our mission. However, while we are aware of the real impact we have on many young people and their families, we remain convinced that it is essential to continually strive to improve ourselves.

Our success is measured not only by the ground we’ve covered, but also by our ability to adapt to evolving challenges. Society is changing, the realities of our young people are shifting, and Vanguard School has a responsibility to continue adapting, innovating, and reinventing itself to remain at the level of your children, today and tomorrow.

Follow us on social media: we’ll soon be sharing various explorations and initiatives that will shape the next phase of our commitment. We’re really looking forward to revealing them to you!

And if you see any areas for improvement, please don’t hesitate to send us constructive feedback at infovanguard@vanguardquebec.qc.ca. We always welcome your input.

Annie Lamarre

Director General

SCHOOL CALENDAR

Ultimately, Vanguard School will maintain one week of spring break in 2026–2027. Although many of you supported this proposal, opinions within the school were still too divided. We will therefore take the time to continue our deliberations, which will guide our decisions for the 2027–2028 school year.

OLINE PAYMENT - DEBIT VISA AND MASTERCARD

We kindly ask that you stop using Visa Debit or Mastercard Debit to pay your Vanguard bills online. We are currently experiencing some difficulties with our platforms in processing these types of payments. We will notify you as soon as the issue is resolved.

FEEP EXPLAINS THE MINISTRY EXAMS

FEEP (Fédération des établissements d'enseignement privé) has developed a tool that explains the principles of converting and adjusting academic scores. It illustrates how scores for a given skill are calculated when a single MEQ test is administered, and helps users better understand the process.

The tool was designed with GENIALLY, an interactive learning platform. You can click on the images, and additional text will be displayed.

SUPPORT TOOLS FOR EXAMS

Supporting a child during exam season can sometimes feel like a real balancing act. Here are two of the best resources in Quebec to help you turn this stressful time into a more peaceful experience:

This website features a comprehensive section for parents with articles on managing emotions and organization.

Why visit it? For its practical tools, such as theExam Survival Kit,” which includes free webinars, videos, and articles. All of these resources are designed to help you better support your child.

Did you know? Tel-jeunes isn't just for teens!

Their section for parents offers advice on when to step in and when to give your child space, all while managing your own stress as a parent.

Why reach out? They offer professional support via phone or text if you're feeling overwhelmed by your teen's anxiety.

THE CAFETERIA CLOSURE

Please note that during the high school exam period, the cafeteria will be closed to EVERYONE (elementary and high school students). The exact date of closure will be communicated to you in a future message from your child’s secretary. Stay tuned!

SURVEY: WELL-BEING AT SCHOOL

A sense of well-being is subjective. It stems from students’ personal experiences. Nevertheless, well-being is often associated with positive emotions. To better understand the reality of the children in our school and adjust our actions accordingly, we will conduct a data collection effort—in the form of a questionnaire—among all students between May 11 and 19, 2026.

This initiative has three complementary objectives:

  • To improve our school environment;
  • To validate our pilot project related to the development of personal and social skills;
  • To contribute to a collaborative research project with the University of Montreal.

To learn more about the survey, we invite you to read the letter from the Elementary School Director, Ms. Andréanne Gagnon.

To help you support them better, we’re sharing a few tips and tricks with you.

ANNUAL OLYMPICS

We are pleased to announce that our school’s Annual Olympics will take place on June 15! This event is a great opportunity for students to get active and take on a fun athletic challenge.

To ensure your child can participate safely and comfortably, here are the dress code guidelines for the day:

  • As a special exception, wearing the school uniform is not required for this event.
  • Students must wear clothing suitable for physical activity (T-shirt, shorts, or athletic pants).
  • To prevent injuries, running shoes are required.

Important: Don’t forget to pack a water bottle clearly labeled with your child’s name so they can stay hydrated throughout the activity, as well as sunscreen.

We can’t wait to see our young athletes in action!
