ROADWORK ANNOUNCED - IMPACT ON OUR DAILY COMMUTE

To the attention of parents, staff members and transportation companies,

We have been informed that the Ministry of Transport will be undertaking major reconstruction work on the Highway 520 (Côte-de-Liesse) overpass at Cavendish Boulevard. As this work falls under the responsibility of the Ministry, the situation is clearly beyond our control.

As you can imagine, these repails will result in major traffic disruptions, particularly beginning in March 2026. Preparatory work for the construction site will begin on February 10, 2026.

We understand that an adjustment period will be necessary for everyone, parents, students, transportation companies, staff members, and other partners of our educational community. As such, we will all need to plan to leave earlier and arm ourselves with a little extra patience.

Some adjustments or changes may be made along the way, depending on the progress of the construction and traffic conditions. The school is also working closely with transportation companies to ensure that bus routes are affected as little as possible by this situation. Please be assured that we are committed to keeping you informed of any relevant developments.

For additional details, we invite you to consult the official memo (In french only) issued by the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable.

This document includes the explanatory diagram below, illustrating the phases of the work, the expected obstructions, and the detours.

PLANNED CONSTRUCTION PHASES

  • February 2026: Site mobilization and preparatory work
  • March to September 2026: Reconstruction of the service roads (Côte-de-Liesse Road) in both directions
  • September to December 2026: Reconstruction of the express lanes
  • Spring 2027: Final completion work

TRAFFIC IMPACTS

Between February 17 and March 2026

  • Partial closures of the express and service lanes of Highway 520 eastbound between Barr Street and Dalton Road.
  • For heavy vehicles only: right turns from Barr Street onto the eastbound Highway 520 service road will be prohibited during the weekend of February 20 to 23.

From March to September 2026

  • Complete closure of Côte-de-Liesse Road:
  • Westbound: between Isabey Street and Migneron Street
  • Eastbound: between Merizzi Street and Dalton Road
  • During the closure of the service roads, traffic will be diverted onto the express lanes to maintain circulation along this strategic corridor.
  • Local traffic only, including employees and school transportation providers for Vanguard School:
  • One lane per direction will remain available on westbound Côte-de-Liesse Road between Isabey Street and the entrance to the school parking lot.
  • Traffic will operate in a 2-way configuration on this section.
  • To access westbound Highway 520, employees and school transportation providers are asked to follow the detour via Isabey Street northbound, then the eastbound Highway 40 service road.

Additional disruptions

  • Partial closure of Cavendish Boulevard, with one lane remaining open in each direction.
  • Full nighttime closures are expected during demolition of the overpasses.
  • Closure of Isabey Street southbound.

Additional disruptions are anticipated between September and December 2026 during the reconstruction of the Highway 520 express-lane overpass. Further details will be communicated once confirmed.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Detour routes will be clearly marked with temporary road signs.
  • Periods of congestion are expected. Road users are advised to allow extra travel time, particularly when traveling to the airport.
  • The start of disruptions may be postponed due to unfavorable weather conditions or operational constraints.
  • Before traveling, users are encouraged to consult Québec 511 to properly plan their trips.

We thank you for your patience, cooperation and understanding during this period of major construction.

Sincerely,

The Administration
