June 2026

A WORD FROM THE DIRECTOR GENERAL

Dear Parents / Legal Guardians,

Here we go… The bell marking the end of the school year is about to ring. I strongly encourage all of you to stand by your child’s side, no matter their age, to cheer them on just as you would if they were running a marathon. For them, it really is a marathon! They need all the encouragement they can get so they don’t give up so close to the finish line.

Turn your current “Go Habs Go!” chant… into one featuring your child’s name. They might think you’re a little overzealous… especially if you hum the tune of “Allez Montréal” to them every day… but you can never blame a parent for being too supportive…

Now imagine if 2,400 parents were to do this over the next few weeks. The kids would end up talking about it at lunchtime and find it really odd that you’re all caught up in the same end-of-year fever…

Finally, the School also needs support but mainly feedback. It’s the best way to make progress and improve. So please don’t forget to fill out the survey that we will be sending you annually from now on. Taking a few minutes to answer this survey allows us to better understand your perspective and your experience. Your responses are important and will contribute directly to our discussions and decision-making as we continue to move the School in the right direction. We thank you in advance for taking a few moments…

Annie Lamarre

Director General

SATISFACTION SURVEY

Our school is constantly evolving to better meet the needs of our current and future students. To do this, we need your help—specifically, your feedback on the various services we offer. Please share your thoughts by completing this short satisfaction survey; simply click on the link for the program your child is enrolled in.

Please fill it out—we need as many responses as possible, because your feedback is essential! Just a few minutes of your time can make a real difference for your children.

Please note that this survey will also be completed by students in the classroom and by our staff members, so that we can gather feedback from the entire Vanguard community.

2026 - 2027 RE-REGISTRATION

You can now re-register your child on the Coba portal under the “Re-registration” tab. We encourage you to complete this step as soon as possible so that we can better plan next year’s services.

REMINDER - CAFETERIA CLOSURE

Please note that during the high school exam period, the cafeteria will be closed to EVERYONE (elementary and high school students). The last service date is June 11, 2026.

For elementary school students: Three meal options will be available for online orders from June 8 to June 11.

USED UNIFORMS COLLECT

As the school year draws to a close and your 6th graders prepare to take a big step toward high school, we invite you to show your generosity and support. If you do not plan to keep your child’s uniform sweaters, the school would be delighted to collect them.

Simply drop off the clean shirts (even if they’re used) with your child’s teacher or at the school office by June 18, 2026. They will be discreetly redistributed to students at the school who need them for next year. It’s a wonderful way to wrap up your child’s elementary school years by helping younger students and reducing waste.

Thank you so much in advance for your generosity!

REMINDER - SECOND EDITION OF THE MEQ EXAMS REVIEW SESSIONS

Alloprof is offering support to students in grades 10, 11, and 12 during its second edition of “Grandes révisions,” from May 4 to June 16. High school students will be able to chat and interact with Alloprof teachers for free on four key subjects assessed by the Ministry of Education: French, mathematics, history, and science.

The sessions will be streamed on TikTok and YouTube. They will subsequently be available for catch-up viewing on the Alloprof website.

SUMMER CLASSES AND RETAKE EXAMS

As part of our annual planning, we have reviewed our summer program offerings. Following this review, we are writing to inform you that the School will not be offering summer courses for the 2026 summer session. This carefully considered decision is based on significant logistical and organizational constraints.

Retake Exams Will Still Be Offered

However, recognizing the importance of our students’ academic progress, we are maintaining the option for retake exams in subjects requiring certification (ministerial exams for Secondary 4 and 5 that count toward graduation), which will be held from July 27 to August 4, 2026.

Alternative Summer Course Options

For your information, we are sharing with you a list of partner organizations and institutions (in both the French-speaking and English-speaking sectors) offering summer courses.

Personalized Recommendations

If the teaching staff determines that a summer course is necessary for your child, you will receive a specific notification during the week of June 22, 2026.

We thank you for your understanding and your continued cooperation. Rest assured that our priority remains the success and academic progress of every student at our school.

QUALITATIVE EVALUATION

This year, we have begun transitioning to a new assessment approach that is more qualitative and focused on the needs of each student.

The goal of this approach is simple: to support and stimulate learning. The information gathered is used to guide instruction, adjust interventions, and support each student’s progress.

After piloting this approach with students in Secondary 1.1, we plan to expand it to students in secondaire 1.2 and Grade 7/7T next year. To learn more, read the letter from the Director of Innovation, Student Success, and Instructional Services, Mr. Stéphane Proulx.

GOLF TOURNAMENT

How can the School’s families help us?

Year after year, the Vanguard Foundation Golf Tournament remains our premier fundraising event to benefit the students and the School’s mission.

The 2026 edition is already generating a lot of excitement:

  • More than 125 participants from the business community are expected;
  • Already, more than 50% of last year’s players have reserved their spots;

Your support directly contributes to the success of this important fundraising event.

Join us for a day of community building in an exceptional setting!

Don’t play golf or can’t your company sponsor the event? Here’s how you can help:

1. Volunteer for the day

We’re looking for a few parent-child volunteer pairs to help with:

  • welcoming participants
  • refreshment stations
  • on-site organizational support

A few hours of your time can make a real difference.

2. Spread the word about our mission

You can still support the Foundation by:

  • sharing the event with your personal and professional networks
  • spreading the word about the tournament

3. Make a donation

Every contribution helps the Vanguard Foundation continue its mission with our students.
