A Message from our CEO

Late last year, the Housing Authority of the City of San Buenaventura officially became Ventura Housing. While our name has changed, our purpose has not. For over 75 years, we have remained steadfast in our commitment to providing stable homes, safe communities, and a brighter future for Ventura families. That commitment remains stronger than ever.

As you begin to see the Ventura Housing name throughout our community, I would like to share what this transition means.

You will notice our new name reflected on signage, correspondence, community outreach materials, and other communications. While our look has been refreshed, our mission remains the same. We continue to serve as your trusted housing partner, delivering innovative and diverse affordable housing solutions and supportive services that strengthen our community.

As we move into 2026, Ventura Housing does so with renewed energy and a deep sense of responsibility. We proudly carry forward our longstanding promise to help Ventura residents thrive through stable housing, safe neighborhoods, and meaningful opportunities.

Thank you for being such an important part of the Ventura Housing community. Your trust, partnership, and support make our work possible.

Together, we will continue to build a strong and vibrant future for Ventura. You will find the same trusted team and the same dedication you have always known, now reflected through a refreshed name and identity that better reflects who we are today and the work we are doing together for the future.

Our Website Has a Fresh New Look

The Ventura Housing team has been working hard to create a resource that will better support our community with clear information, easier navigation, and improved access to the services you rely on. This new website is designed to meet the needs of our residents, landlord partners, community collaborators and neighbors; strengthening the connection between Ventura Housing and the community we serve.

A new website also means a new domain name and new email addresses. Moving forward, email correspondence from the Ventura Housing team will come from an @VenturaHousing.org address.

Award-Winning Designs Built in Ventura

Humane Society partnership helps keep families and pets together

Christina, a resident at our Valentine Road property, knows firsthand how essential support can be. After losing her husband, she also lost her home, finding herself on the river bottom with only her husband’s pit-bull by her side. Her dog became her protector and her only consistent companion. “It’s lonely out there, and sometimes your dog is all you’ve got to talk to,” said Christina. As Christina sought services to rebuild her life, she repeatedly hit the same wall: programs that required her to give up her dog. “My dog will always come before me, because she has been there every step of the way,” she said. "If I couldn't be here with her, I wouldn't be here at all."

Ventura Housing has deepened its commitment to resident well-being through a partnership with Humane Society of Ventura County (HSVC). Backed by a Ventura County Community Foundation grant, HSVC teams visit Ventura Housing developments to offer free or low-cost veterinary services, making pet care accessible for households that need it most. Through this commitment, we strive not only to provide quality housing, but also to foster welcoming communities where individuals and families can thrive.

Turning Support

into Scholarships

ATLAS, the nonprofit partner of Ventura Housing, empowers low-income families and individuals through sustainable living environments that foster community growth. A key initiative is our Scholarship Program, which provides financial support to Ventura Housing residents and Housing Choice Voucher participants pursuing higher education.

We welcome your support of our Scholarship Program with a tax-deductible gift.
