Welcome to the latest edition of Community Connections, where we’re looking ahead to one of the most important events on the Bellwether Housing calendar while celebrating the people and moments that made this summer special.
In this issue, we’re excited to share that our annual Closer to Home fundraising luncheon is just around the corner! This special event brings together supporters, partners, and community members who believe everyone deserves a safe, affordable place to call home. As we prepare to gather, we’re grateful for the continued support that makes it possible for Bellwether to create and preserve affordable homes throughout our region. We hope you’ll join us for this important celebration of community and our shared vision for a future where everyone has a place to call home.
We’re also taking a look back at a summer filled with connection and fun. From sunny days at our company picnic at Magnuson Park to cheering on the Mariners, our BeeWees found plenty of opportunities to spend time together. We also came together to support local students through our School Supply Drive and joined our partners at PCL Construction for the annual golf tournament, where Bellwether was honored to be one of this year’s beneficiary organizations.
Finally, we’re highlighting some of the ways Bellwether stayed connected with residents, neighbors, and community partners throughout the summer, including the Hopelink Fair in Redmond and the Cedar Crossing Summer Fair. These gatherings remind us that affordable housing is about more than a home. It’s about creating communities where people can connect, celebrate, and thrive.
As we look ahead to Closer to Home, we’re reminded of what’s possible when we come together around a shared purpose. Thank you for being part of the Bellwether Housing community and for helping us bring more people closer to home.

Reserve your seat today for Bellwether Housing's annual Closer to Home luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 8 at the Seattle Westin.
This inspiring event brings together community leaders, housing advocates, and supporters who believe everyone deserves a safe, stable, and affordable home. This year’s theme, Welcome Home, is an invitation to come in, gather in community, and celebrate the people, places, and possibilities that make us feel at home.
We’re honored to welcome economist Raj Chetty, whose groundbreaking research on economic opportunity and social mobility has shaped national conversations about housing, neighborhoods, and pathways to success. For many in Seattle's housing community, Chetty's work is already familiar. His research helped inform the Seattle and King County housing mobility initiatives that demonstrated how removing barriers can help families use housing vouchers to move to neighborhoods with greater long-term opportunities for children.
Special thanks to our Presenting Sponsors Airbnb and Walsh Construction, and to all the organizations and individuals who stand alongside Bellwether. Together, we are creating affordable homes, strengthening neighborhoods, and helping ensure that people of all incomes can continue to be part of the communities they help make whole.
Join us as we celebrate the impact of affordable homes and invest in a future where more people can access the opportunities available in our region and contribute to building a stronger community for everyone.

We’re proud to share that Bellwether Housing has been selected as one of the inaugural Redmond Spotlight 20, a new OneRedmond recognition program celebrating businesses, nonprofits and community organizations making an exceptional impact in Redmond.
Bellwether was recognized in the Building Redmond category for our community-centered development of Prisma in Overlake. The project broke ground in February 2026 following extensive engagement with residents and community organizations. That engagement helped shape the project’s design, including gathering areas, community rooms, culturally responsive features and space for nonprofit services.
Nearly 90 organizations applied for the inaugural program, with 20 selected across five areas of recognition. We’re honored to be recognized alongside organizations contributing to Redmond’s growth, connection and community.

We're excited to share that construction on Brightwood is about to begin! This milestone marks the start of Bellwether Housing's newest affordable housing community in Seattle's Greenwood neighborhood and another step toward creating more housing opportunities for families across King County.
When completed in early 2028, Brightwood will offer 53 affordable apartments, including 32 family-sized two- and three-bedroom homes, helping address the need for larger affordable homes for families in North Seattle. Designed by Encore Architects and built by Absher Construction Co., the community will be owned and managed by Bellwether Housing. Bellwether is partnering with FamilyWorks to help connect future residents with additional resources that promote long-term housing stability and well-being.
Brightwood is ideally located near public transportation, schools, parks, neighborhood services, and other everyday amenities. One of the development’s greatest strengths is its location directly next to the North Seattle Boys & Girls Club, giving children who live at Brightwood easy access to programs where they can learn, play, build relationships, and stay connected to their neighborhood.
We're proud to celebrate this important milestone and grateful to the many public agencies, partners, supporters, and community members who have helped make Brightwood possible. We look forward to sharing construction updates as this exciting new community takes shape.

Summer was full of fun in the sun, connection, and community at Bellwether! From sunny days to baseball games, our employees made the most of the season. We enjoyed a beautiful company picnic at Magnuson Park, where great weather and clearing skies made for a perfect day at the beach.
We also came together to support local students through our School Supply Drive, helping ease the financial burden on low-income families and ensuring children have the supplies they need to start the school year ready to succeed.
We joined our partners at PCL Construction for the annual golf tournament at The Golf Club at Newcastle, where Bellwether was honored to be one of this year’s beneficiary organizations.
A group of employees also cheered on the Mariners as they took down the Philadelphia Phillies.
Across our communities, we connected with neighbors at the Hopelink Fair in Redmond and celebrated summer with residents at the Cedar Crossing Summer Fair. We also hosted National Night Out events at many of our buildings, had a variety of outdoor grilling and BBQ events for residents and much, much more.
It was a busy and memorable summer, and we’re grateful to everyone who helped make it so much fun!
