Welcome to the second edition of Community Connections, where we continue sharing the stories, partnerships, and milestones that make Bellwether's mission possible.
In this issue we're honored to share another inspiring Voices of Bellwether story featuring Mr. Nate from Cedar Crossing, whose dedication to serving his neighbors and community reflects the many ways Bellwether residents help strengthen the communities they call home. We're also excited to announce that registration is now open for our annual Closer to Home fundraising luncheon, and we hope you'll join us as we come together to expand access to affordable housing across our region.
You'll also see how Bellwether employees rolled up their sleeves during our annual Day of Caring, working together to revitalize The Renton Sage and create a welcoming environment for residents. We're proud to highlight our involvement in two important community celebrations this month, sponsoring the Juneteenth Block Party at the Rainier Beach Community Center and marching in the Seattle Pride Parade, reflecting our commitment to building stronger, more inclusive communities throughout Seattle.
Finally, we're sharing highlights from some of the memorable resident events that brought neighbors together this month, including a fun-filled trip to the zoo for residents from several Bellwether communities and a lively celebration at The Renton Sage honoring recent graduates. These moments of connection remind us that affordable housing is about more than providing a place to live. It's about creating communities where people can thrive, celebrate, and support one another.
Thank you for your continued partnership and generosity. Your support makes these stories possible, and we're grateful to have you as part of the Bellwether Housing community.

Mark your calendar for Bellwether's annual Closer to Home luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 8.
This inspiring event brings together community leaders, housing advocates, and supporters who believe everyone deserves a safe, stable, and affordable home. This year’s theme, Welcome Home, is an invitation to come in, gather in community, and celebrate the people, places, and possibilities that make us feel at home. We’re honored to welcome economist Raj Chetty, whose groundbreaking research on economic opportunity and social mobility has shaped national conversations about housing, neighborhoods, and pathways to success.
Join us as we celebrate the impact of affordable homes and invest in a future where more people can access the opportunities available in our region and contribute to building a stronger community for everyone.

Bellwether was proud to sponsor the Juneteenth Block Party at the Rainier Beach Community Center on June 18, joining neighbors, community partners and local organizations for a joyful celebration of history, culture and community, while honoring Black freedom, resilience and achievement.
The Block Party was filled with music, food, performances, local vendors and family-friendly activities that brought people together in celebration and connection. At Bellwether, we believe strong communities are built through meaningful partnerships and opportunities for neighbors to gather, celebrate and support one another. We were honored to be part of this inspiring event and grateful for the chance to celebrate alongside the Rainier Beach community.

This year's Seattle Pride Parade was a joyful celebration of community, inclusion, and belonging, and Bellwether was thrilled to be part of the festivities. Thanks to the creativity of our Community Relations Team and the many volunteer painters who helped bring our colorful Pride float to life, we had the opportunity to march and roll through downtown Seattle with our partners at PCL Construction, who generously provided the truck and trailer. We were even treated to a welcome appearance from the Seattle sun.
As an affordable housing provider rooted in the communities we serve, participating in events like Seattle Pride is an important reminder that thriving neighborhoods are built not only through housing, but through connection, belonging, and inclusion. Supporting and celebrating the diverse communities that make Seattle such a vibrant place to live is central to our mission, and we were honored to stand alongside our neighbors in celebrating love, equity, and community.
| | A Day of Caring at The Renton Sage | | |
In April, Bellwether staff from across the organization came together at The Renton Sage to clean common areas, beautify outdoor spaces, tackle landscaping projects, and complete improvements that made the community even more welcoming for residents. Thanks to their hard work, The Renton Sage is cleaner, brighter, and better prepared to support the people who call it home.
Just as meaningful as the physical transformation was the spirit of collaboration that filled the day. People showed up ready to serve, making a real difference and reminding us that strong communities are built by neighbors who invest their time and energy in one another. Thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves and helped make the property shine.

At Bellwether, creating affordable homes is just the beginning. Through resident events and programs, we help foster the connections that transform apartment buildings into thriving communities. This month, residents from Meridian Manor, Tate Mason House, Sunrise Tower, and First & Vine enjoyed a memorable day at the zoo, giving neighbors an opportunity to explore, laugh, and spend time together outside of their daily routines. Special thanks to our Resident Services Team members, Liya Rubio, William Polk, Tara Sloane, and Tien Austin, for coordinating this wonderful outing and creating lasting memories for our residents.
Community was also on full display at The Renton Sage, where Carla Kirkwood organized the property's first major resident celebration. Neighbors gathered for an afternoon filled with games, prizes, delicious food, and plenty of fun, featuring everything from grilled chicken, steak, rice, beans, ceviche, and street corn to cupcakes and other treats. The event was a special celebration recognizing resident graduates and their accomplishments, making the gathering an opportunity to celebrate both community and individual milestones. We are deeply grateful to the volunteers who helped make the event possible and to the dedicated staff who continue to create meaningful opportunities for residents to connect.
