|
To our valued customers,
Summer is officially here, and things are heating up at ACTION! Here are a few highlights I’d like to share:
Reduced Lead Times. During the COVID boom, ACTION was operating with extended lead times. Through hard work and improved production efficiency, we can now support projects with short turnaround times! Contact us to find out how quickly we can deliver your custom vibratory solution!
Tricky Applications? At ACTION, our team of specialized engineers are ready to help you tackle even your most challenging conveying and separation needs. Maybe you have a strange application (like screening artificial turf), an environment that requires a high temperature design (like when you’re screening hot iron ore), a series of unconventional requirements (like explosion proofing or dust hooding), a challenging envelope in which the machine needs to fit, or an especially difficult/sticky material (like auto-shredded residue). We’re experts at vibratory problem solving! Let us help!
New Website. I’m pleased to announce that our newly redesigned website is live! We made a special effort to fill the website with videos and images of our products in action! Please check out the new and improved site and see what ACTION can do for you!

| | | | Introducing EVEN-AIR™ Technology | |
ACTION’s DENSE-OUT® Vibratory AIR Separator is a dry classification system designed to leverage the power of air and vibratory technology, efficiently separating materials based on density. This approach to sorting materials makes it particularly effective for recycling applications. Vibratory action helps to stratify materials, as integrated air knives separate the different densities by lifting lighter materials away from heavier ones.
Now with EVEN-AIR™ Technology, the DENSE-OUT® Vibratory AIR Separator ensures an even higher degree of precision when separating different types of heavy materials such as rocks, bricks, metals, glass, asphalt, and wood from less dense materials.
The efficient design of EVEN-AIR™ Technology maximizes flow energy, providing a uniform discharge velocity with the convenience of a side inlet.
Not only does this balance the velocity across the outlet, but pressure degradation along the length of the air knife is eliminated. ACTION EVEN-AIR™ Technology produces consistent sorting results across the width of the DENSE-OUT® Vibratory AIR Separator.
| | Why Choose the DENSE-OUT® Vibratory AIR Separator with EVEN-AIR™ Technology? | |
-
Out-performing the Competition: Standard Air Separation technology loses velocity across the width of the air knife, resulting in the degradation of material separation further from the air inlet. ACTION EVEN-AIR™ Technology guarantees optimal material separation across the width of the air knife, reducing the need for pickers and increasing your bottom line.
-
Dry Separation: The use of air as a separation medium in conjunction with core vibratory technology conveys and fluidizes materials for accurate, high-capacity separation. No water storage, settling tanks, sludge generation or product degradation are needed.
-
Multiple Air Knives with EVEN-AIR™ Technology: Options available for one, two, or three air knives that produce consistent discharge velocity and pressure along the length of each knife, providing effective sorting across the width of your DENSE-OUT®.
-
Pre-Screening Option: Screen sections can be placed before the air knives to effectively remove dirt and other fine contaminants from the density separation process.
-
Increased Product Quality: Recover the highest quality and quantity of end products and boost the commercial value of “lights” or “heavies.”

What is a polyurethane liner and when is it used?
A polyurethane liner (also called PU liner) is a flexible plastic-like sub-pan liner option to use in place of a stainless steel liner. It is used when there are high levels of build-up caused when wet fines are regularly processed. PU liners are typically used in recycling industries.
| | | | Pros and Cons of Polyurethane Liners | | |
Pros
- PU liners flex with the vibratory action of our units to reduce build-up of moist dust and sticking fines. This requires less cleaning than stainless steel liners that need to be cleaned and scraped more often.
- Easier to replace than stainless steel liners that must be completely cut out and a new liner welded into an empty pan.
- Bolted on during manufacturing.
- Can be retrofit as a kit into units with stainless steel liners.
Cons
- PU liner lifespan varies depending on maintenance practices and the material being processed by the conveyor, unlike stainless steel liner that has a long service life due to rust and abrasion resistance.
- Not as tough as stainless steel liners, and PU is more prone to damage from sharp materials or cleaning with sharp tools.
- The pan under a PU liner can potentially rust in corrosive or wet environments.
- Fines can migrate and clump under PU liner and can be difficult to remove.
| | Best Practices to Extend Polyurethane Liner Longevity | |
| | |
Improve the life of your polyurethane liner by avoiding:
- Overstroke conditions
- Long material spearing through the screen and getting wedged
- Not clearing jams in a timely manner
- Clearing jams with the loading excavator grapple rather than by hand
- Increasing divers by loading material on the screens
- Scraping build-up with sharp tools
Polyurethane liners are wear items and not covered by warranty.

| | Maintenance Corner: Bearings | In this issue, we’re taking a closer look at the key factors that influence the lifespan of bearings in your ACTION Vibratory Equipment. Depending on how these components are cared for, their service life can vary dramatically—from over 10 years to less than 6 months. Often, the difference comes down to just a few essential practices: | Key Factors That Impact Bearing Life: |
- Stroke Settings: Improper stroke can place excessive or uneven loads on bearings, leading to premature wear or failure. ACTION vibratory equipment is designed to place minimal load on bearings when operating at design stroke. Sustained over and under-stroke increases bearing load and reduces the lifespan of your bearings. Please reach out to ACTION if you need help determining the correct stroke for your vibratory equipment.
- OEM-Recommended Bearings: Using non-OEM or incorrect bearing types can result in fitment issues, inadequate load ratings, or reduced durability. Use OEM recommended components to ensure compatibility and performance, because ALL BEARINGS ARE NOT CREATED EQUAL. A key to long bearing life is the ability to easily and precisely set internal bearing clearances, ACTION Vibratory Equipment utilizes specially designed Rex Roller Bearings equipped with (2) Micro-Lock Clearance Adjustment Positions. Precise control of internal clearances when setting bearings at our manufacturing facility or in the field translates directly correlates to longer bearing life. Unlike other bearings, Action’s proprietary Rex Roller Bearings can be adjusted radially by approximately .001 per position and is unmatched with 24 available positions.
- Cleanliness: Contamination is one of the leading causes of bearing failure. Keeping the environment around the bearings clean and preventing the ingress of dust, moisture, or debris, greatly extends bearing life. Bearings should be stored in their original packaging until needed. The work area should be cleaned to reduce the risk of introducing contaminants into bearings, before removing bearings from their packaging. Please note, bearings are pre-greased and do not require additional lubrication at install. Please contact ACTION for a copy of the latest manual.
- Lubrication (Type, Interval, Amount): Using the correct type of lubricant, applying it in the proper amount, at the proper intervals, is a critical part of ongoing bearing care. Even the best bearings will fail quickly if lubrication is neglected or done incorrectly. Greasing your bearings until your seals ooze grease can result in over-heating and contaminants being introduced inside the bearings when the seal is broken, reducing the lifespan of your bearings. Please reference your ACTION Conveyor Manual. NOTE: If a pump gun is used, please calculate how many pumps are equivalent to the recommended ounces to be administered.
By following these best maintenance and operation practices, you can significantly extend bearing life, reduce downtime, and keep your ACTION equipment running at peak performance. Proper bearing care not only improves reliability, it also saves valuable time and money by preventing unexpected failures and costly repairs.
